The pediatrician told me to start weaning him to milk at 11 months because of his weight so I went to Lactaid because cheese and baby yogurt both make him vomit. However with getting the 1 oz of Lactaid in his bottle, he is suddenly spitting up a lot and is more gassy again. Could it be a milk allergy that my pediatrician is just not willing to diagnose?
He also has had a big wet mushy poop immediately after having the first bottle that had milk in it.
Dh doesn't want to admit that ds cannot handle the milk since we are on wic and they stop paying for formula and only pay for Lactaid starting the 21st but I don't want to make ds uncomfortable if he could have an allergy to it. Newest First.
JJ, Oops meant to ask does the pediatrician send your lo for an allergy test somewhere or just listen to symptoms and say it is testkng milk allergy? JJ, For us, we were actually sent to a pediatric GI who works in a multi-disciplinary pediatric clinic.
She listened to my DD's symptoms, tested the stool sample we brought with us, and did a basic check up. Her first reaction was that DD had a milk protein intolerance.
She said we could have her tested, but tests are unreliable for intolerances and unreliable at a young age so the best thing to do was take all milk out of DD's diet. Within 10 days, DD was a totally different child. JJ, It's usually a symptom thing.
But if your LO is eeeks or having loose stools afterwards I'd say LO is not lactose intolerant, but has a milk allergy. I have 2 boys w it.
The first was diagnosed after he had bloody diarrhea, colic, reflux, tons of gas by 3 weeks old. All his symptoms stopped when we took him off of milk. They also tested his stool to rule out other things that could've caused the blood.Allergy testing, either by blood or skin test, can be done on children older than 2 months, but test results are harder to interpret in children this young because their immune system is still. Yes. I have been dairy free for 6 weeks and soy free for 2 weeks. At 1 week post soy-free, DS had an appointment with a ped GI. His poop tested negative for blood, so we thought eliminating soy did the trick. Fast forward to a week later (today) and he was very fussy and had visible blood in his poop. Our son presented at 6 weeks, with pure red stool, mucous, and extreme colic where he would scream 22 hours a day! After 3 hospitalizations at childrens he was diagnosed as .
W my 2nd now 9 mths he started getting gassy, colicky, and reflux by 2 weeks. Took him off milk and the gas and colic went away but reflux stayed. I talked to his dr about what milk he should have at 1 and she wants him to keep breastfeeding and have almond milk when I'm at work.
There is bbaby milk too. JJ, It is diagnosed through symptoms.

If it is a TRUE milk allergy, they can run blood tests. WIC will cover whatever formula you need as long as you need it as long as your doc write a script saying that he can have nothing else.

His father and my brother have bad allergy problems and had cases of eczema because of it. If baby has a reaction to eating certain foods, you may naturally suspect a food allergy. But only 6 percent of babies have true food allergies—others may have food sensitivities, a reaction that doesn’t produce IgE antibodies but still may manifest in symptoms like rashes, vomiting or general fussiness. Allergy testing, either by blood or skin test, can be done on children older than 2 months, but test results are harder to interpret in children this young because their immune system is still.
He is almost 2, and still gets sick from 2 tsp of milk! Good luck with it all. If your ped doesnt listen- find a new one:.

allergy What did u do at one year? Stay on formula? JJ, Mine was diagnosed baby others - stool sample, symptoms, testing changes, then confirmed with ALCAT babj, which does pick up weeks non immune system intolerances. In this state they do - not sure about others. Shannon, They pay for soy milk in this state but rice and almond milks aren't allowed.
Our pediatrician was hesitant to diagnose my DD with a milk allergy or sensitivity even though there's a definite family history. I was put on soy formula along with my two younger sisters.
Also we have 2 grandparents that are lactose intolerant. I knew there was something wrong with her so I talked to the WIC people and they changed her to soy. She was like a different baby from the first bottle! They didn't even mess around with giving my boys regular formula.
